Important information for patients with Health Insurance Marketplace/Exchange coverage

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) helps many people pay for health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace, sometimes called the Exchange. To make coverage more affordable, the federal government offers subsidies—financial assistance that lowers the monthly cost of insurance for those who qualify.

Because the future of these federal subsidies is uncertain, some patients with Marketplace coverage may see changes to their insurance in 2026. Our goal is to help you understand how this could affect cost estimates for upcoming appointments or procedures.

What this means for you

To help ensure you have accurate and reliable information before care:

  • Appointments, procedures, or surgeries currently scheduled for January 2026 may be reviewed by your provider to determine the safest and most appropriate timing for your care. When possible, these services may be moved to a time when cost and coverage information are more certain—either late 2025 or February 2026 and after.
  • New, non-urgent appointments should also be scheduled during those same timeframes when possible.
  • Urgent or time-sensitive care will continue as scheduled. Your health and safety remain our top priority.

If your appointment can be rescheduled, a member of your care team will reach out to you directly to review your options and find a time that works best for you.

You may choose to keep your scheduled date. However, because of possible insurance changes, we may not be able to provide an accurate estimate of your out-of-pocket costs at this time.

If you keep your January appointment:

  • Please make sure your Marketplace premiums are paid on time to avoid a lapse in coverage.
  • You’ll be responsible for any costs not covered by your insurance plan.
