Our Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship program provides exposure to a rich variety of clinical pathology
The Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine - Scott & White Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship is a three-year program that is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Our program provides a range of research opportunities to enrich our fellows’ experience and teach skills that are foundational for successful scholarly endeavors.
We accept two fellows per year.
As the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas and one of the largest in the United States, Baylor Scott & White serves 41 counties through 52 hospitals, more than 1,200 access points, more than 7,100 active physicians, more than 52,000 team members and the Baylor Scott & White Health Plan.
Curriculum
Rotations
Monthly rotations include the following services:
- NICU
- NICU follow-up clinic
- Couplet care unit
- Perinatology
- Cardiovascular disease
- Research
Call is in-house and occurs about one in five days throughout the fellowship.
Conferences
Our required routine conferences include:
- Neonatology core curriculum: Twice-monthly conferences lead by fellow with faculty facilitation on core neonatal topics.
- GME core curriculum: Monthly conferences covering professionalism, ethics, introduction to statistics and more.
- Ob-Neonatal conference: This quarterly conference provides an opportunity to discuss interesting cases from the perspective of both disciplines.
- Neonatal journal club: Fellows choose a journal article to present methodology and findings to the group once a month.
- Pediatric grand rounds: Rounds cover a variety of pediatric topics. Fellows have an opportunity to lead one or more of the grand rounds during the fellowship.
Research
There are many clinical and basic science research opportunities, and fellows are given protected time to permit participation in these as well as quality improvement projects.
How to apply
We use the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) to electronically accept fellowship applications, letters of recommendations, dean’s letters, transcripts and other credentials directly from your medical school.
Applicants must have completed a three-year Pediatric residency program.
Eligible applicants should also provide:
- Transcript from medical school
- Dean's letter
- Three letters of reference from medical school faculty or residency/fellowship experience
- A recent photo
- Personal statement
- Curriculum vitae/resume
- Record of other graduate medical experience, if applicable
- ECFMG certificate, if foreign medical graduate
- Passing USMLE II and III scores
Deadline for applications is October 15.
