Each year during annual enrollment you will have an opportunity to make changes to your benefits. Outside of that, there are certain life events that may also allow you to make changes. These are known as qualifying life events. Review the checklist below to understand what actions you should take if you experience a life event.
What to do
Submit your event
You must submit your life event in PeoplePlace within 31 days. View the instructions to submit a life event (log in required) for assistance.
Note: If you add new dependents to the plan, you will be required to verify their eligibility. If eligibility is not verified within 60 days, coverage for the applicable dependent will be discontinued. Be on the lookout for a mailed packet from the Dependent Verification Center to your home address on record.
Update your personal information
If necessary, update your name, home address, phone number and other personal information in PeoplePlace > About Me (log in required). If you need help, a step-by-step guide to update your personal information is available (log in required).
Review your beneficiaries
Depending on your event, you may want to update your beneficiaries. View our step-by-step instructions for help updating your beneficiaries in PeoplePlace (log in required). Changes to your 401(k) beneficiaries can be made on the Empower website.
