Intern experience
"Looking for an opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in research, Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Plano’s Research Internship 100% fulfilled this goal. As an intern, I was challenged to test my medical knowledge of the cardiovascular system, and through these challenges, I gained insight into the rigor of what it is like to a be a physician. I had the opportunity to collaborate with physicians in writing case reports and systematic reviews in addition to collecting and analyzing data for projects related to structural heart disease. My favorite aspect of the internship was the balance between group-learning and independent-learning. Interested in how to interpret echocardiograms, I was encouraged to independently seek information and present the knowledge that I had gained to my fellow interns. Through hands-on collaboration and learning, my experience as an intern gave me a glimpse into my future career in medicine, which has only increased my eagerness to become a physician."
