Management of diabetic foot and limb preservation
The Diabetic Foot & Limb Preservation Center is a foot and ankle wound care program through Outpatient Services at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital — Plano. This specialized hospital department treats foot and ankle non-healing wounds with an emphasis on the diabetic foot ulcer. The multidisciplinary team is led by our regional medical director who is board-certified as a podiatric surgeon and wound care physician. The Diabetic Foot & Limb Preservation Center in Plano provides both medical and surgical wound healing interventions.
The Center is dedicated to the functional preservation of the lower extremity. Its mission is to prevent major amputations through rapid wound healing following evidence-based medicine and proven research. Quality patient outcomes, through measurable healing rates, are significantly better than the national average, especially for diabetic foot ulcers.
The scope of our Plano Diabetic Foot & Limb Preservation Center goes far beyond chronic wound care. A comprehensive approach is used to prevent wound development through surveillance, education, and dietitian services. This ultimately improves quality of life, increases longevity, and keeps patients active.
